     NOTES AND NEWS

Week of September 6th,  2009

JOIN US FOR BIBLE CLASS ON 1 & 2 PETER! In Peter’s epistles he instructs Christ’s sheep how to deal with challenges facing the early Christian church—challenges that we also face today. Class is held in the Welcome Center on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. and on Mondays after our worship service. Hope to see you there!

THERE IS NO WORSHIP SERVICE ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, due to the Labor Day Weekend.  The regularly scheduled worship service will be held on Tuesday, September 8 at 6:30 p.m. Bible class will be held on Tuesday night following the service.

AT OUR VOTERS’ MEETING ON MONDAY we voted to call Miss Belinda Diercks to serve as our extended learning teacher. Please keep Miss Diercks in your prayers as she considers the call.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!  “EMBRACING OUR NEIGHBORS” is the Welcome Center Open House to the community.  This event will be on Saturday, September 26, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  Members and non-members are all invited. Watch Notes & News for updates of all the activities being planned.  Donations of cookies or bars is greatly appreciated. Light refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there!

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO HELP WITH SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE! We need your help if we’re going to continue serving coffee on Sunday mornings. Two options are available: set up before the early service or clean up after the late service. If you’re an early riser, you can help brew coffee at 7:15 a.m. so that we have coffee ready for those who come to our first service. Clean-up after the second service takes about twenty minutes. Please sign up at the kiosk in the Welcome Center for the dates that work for you. For more information, please contact Sandy Bartsch at 414.545.8651.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HELPED WITH THE ALL FAMILY BBQ LAST SUNDAY! St. John’s Home & School is currently holding their annual fundraiser. Profits help to support all the functions of the Home & School organization for the upcoming school year in addition to non-curricular needs of the school. They are selling various products from the Geckler Company, which include gift items as well as frozen foods. Orders will be taken until September 16.  There is a packet to look at with an order form at the kiosk in the Welcome Center and in the church narthex. Payment is needed with each order. Checks made payable to St. John’s Home & School.  Questions?  Please contact Vicki Bartol at the school office, 414.541.5881.

SUNDAY SCHOOL STARTS SEPTEMBER 13 AT 9:15 A.M.  83 letters were sent out early in August to St. John’s families and VBS families with children ages 3 ½ - 11. Parents can come to Bible Class and children can attend Sunday School.  It’s a great opportunity for having your faith fed and for fellowship.  A pre-teen and/or teen class may also start up depending on answers to 40 phone calls.  “Blessed are they who hear the Word of God and keep it” (and spread it) Don’t let this chance for faith growth pass you by. Call Gene Huth 453.1350. Sunday School registration is on now!  Sign up at church in the Welcome Center. All Sunday School families challenge all to a softball game on September 13 at 3:00 p.m.

JOIN US ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, AT 9:15 A.M. FOR AN OPEN FORUM MEETING.
