Our Cemetery

Our cemetery has become the temporary resting place of the bodies of many of our members over the years. We look forward to the end of times when all our bodies are reunited with our soul in heaven! Praise be to God!

Below you will find links to documents about our cemetery. We hope to add a map in the near future for those who wish to visit our cemetery to find a relative or friend.

We will also be adding photos of all the head stones for those who don't live in the area, but wish to see their loved ones grave.

We do all these things to honor those that have gone on to Him before us.

Some facts about our cemetery:

In a deed recording the fact that in 1846 an acre of land on the Muskego Road, now known as Forest Home Ave. was sold by Martin Kern to the Evangelical Church of the Town of Greenfield for cemetery purposes. In 1851 the congregation formally organized itself and was incorporated under the name of The Corporation of the German Evangelical St. John Church of Greenfield. In 1952 under reorganization the church name was changed to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Root Creek, Wis. On March 15, 1942 the new Christian Day School was dedicated.

The first year someone was put to rest on St. John's property was 1869 according to church records.
